About Everett
In 2002, Everett received the All-America City Award, which is presented by the National Civic League to cities whose citizens work together to identify and tackle community-wide struggles and achieve uncommon results. Everett is located about 25 miles north of Seattle, and is situated on Port Gardner Bay as a Pacific-Rim city. Once a mill town dependent on wood-based industries, Everett's now 80,000-strong workforce is primarily employed in technology, aerospace and service-based industries. Major employers include the Boeing Company, Verizon, the Kimberbly-Clark Corporation and Fluke Corporation.
Education
Everett is mostly served by the Everett School District and partially by the Mukilteo School District. The Everett School District enrolls about 18,000 students in 29 schools whereas the Mukilteo School District enrolls over 14,000 students in 18 schools. Everett Community College, University of Washington at Bothell, Cascadia College, Edmonds Community College, Puget Sound Christian are among the many colleges and trade schools surrounding Everett.
Recreation
Residents enjoy over 40 parks, trails, golf courses and open spaces in Everett. Nearby rivers, lakes, campgrounds, the Cascade and Olympic Mountains, as well as the Whidbey and San Juan Islands draw many out of their homes for summer and winter sports activities and to enjoy nature. Activity, enrichment and wellness classes as well as day camps and sports programs are offered by the city at these areas as is specialized recreation. There's more!
